A contemporary house overlooking the dunes at the Belgian coast was missing a connection to its surrounded landscape. The aim of the project was to bring the dune towards the house and to solve the problem of sand erosion due to the heavy coastal winds.
By planting dune flora in the open zone around the house in one hand and by carving out paths in the existing shrubby vegetation on the other, we created a continued landscape with series of walks and habitats. Our intervention disappears behind the natural result.
A walk in these dunes surprises each time with new perspectives and a variety of open and closed spaces for different kind of uses.
